Standing in a field still known as The Ring on the historic ’40/- Lands of Stocking’, the troubled house on the RIngcroft was probably sited a few hundred yards down the ridge near modern Collin Mill Farm, where an early map showed a house marked ‘Ring, in ruins.’
A bit more sheltered with access to water. They weren’t total masochists!
